Community Connections proudly hosted its First Annual Partnership Convening, bringing together leaders, partners, and community members for a day of meaningful dialogue and celebration.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from CEO Damien Cabezas, setting the tone for a day centered on collaboration, equity, and community impact. Attendees then heard a powerful keynote address from DC Councilmember Christina Henderson, followed by an engaging fireside chat with distinguished panelists Ed Barry, Dr. Ayanna Bennett, Jeremy Attermann, and Karen Dale. Together, they explored urgent issues in health, equity, behavioral health, and cross-sector partnership.
The convening concluded with the presentation of three honors and one surprise honoree: the Person of the Year Award presented to Dr. Maxine Harris, the Consumer of the Year Award for Marcia Lee Hughes, the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Joseph Cullinan, and the Bold & Courageous Partners of the Year Award recognizing DC Central Kitchen and Capital One Bank.
This inaugural gathering marked an inspiring step forward in strengthening partnerships across the District.
